The Apartment
This
rooftop apartment is situated on the top two floors of a charming 18th century
townhouse with a double aspect overlooking the old port to the east and the
main town square, La Place Sainte Catherine to the west.
It has been comfortably modernised to a high standard whilst retaining its character
and offers an ideal base for enjoying the charms of Honfleur, with its wonderful
old world atmosphere and history, cultural events, restaurants, beach and leisure
facilities, or for exploring the splendid Normandy coastline.
The kitchen/dining area
Access is by a fairly steep stairway and it being the top two floors of the
building, the apartment is not suitable for young children or for those who
have difficulties with stairs.
For those who can manage the climb, the apartment offers the special charm of
being in the midst of the bustle of this thriving town and yet slightly detached
from it. What better than to look down on the vendors as they set up their stalls
for the Saturday market or to watch the boats sailing out of the harbour of
the old port.
Lounge area and open fireplace
The
apartment sleeps five with accommodation comprising one double bedroom, a small
single bedroom, bathroom with shower and open plan lounge/dining room with integral
kitchen on the first floor, and a twin bedroom and bathroom on the second floor.
Both floors are accessed by polished wood stairs.
The open plan living area has a sloping ceiling and exposed beams and stunning views over the old port. There is a colour TV, video and DVD, radio/tape/CD player and an open fireplace. There are four armchairs and a large floor cushion by way of seating in the lounge area and a round table and five chairs in the dining area. The integral kitchen is very well equipped with all the usual appliances including a freezer and microwave.
The double bedroom has built in cupboards, a dressing table, bedside cabinets and views over the town square. Across the landing is a small single bedroom also overlooking the town square, and a fully tiled bathroom with shower, WC and heated towel rail.
The double bedroom downstairs
The top floor is accessed via a fairly steep staircase and comprises a twin
bedroom with sloping ceilings and exposed beams with views both back and front,
equipped with a small cabinet, chest of drawers, desk and bedside tables and
across the landing a fully tiled bathroom with WC and washing machine. All rooms
are fitted with electric convector heaters. There is also an open fire in the
lounge.
